Best Practices Bus Tour Visits TCE!

Taylors Creek was selected as a model school by the Georgia Partnership of Excellence in Education (GPEE). The GPEE sponsors a bus trip each year for community leaders to visit schools to see best practices. It is referred to as a “Best Practices Tour” because it showcases achieving schools, administrators, teachers, and practices that are making a difference. Taylors Creek will be visited on October 26, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. The tour’s theme this year is: Georgia’s Public Schools: Changing Culture, Building Community and Reaching Excellence. Approximately 70 riders including business, government, education, and civic leaders from across the state will arrive in two motor coaches. Community leaders from Fort Stewart and Liberty County will be joining the tour as well.

TCE STUDENT COUNCIL

The TCE Student Council met with a special guest, Dr. Judy Scherer, the superintendent of schools. Students shared why field trips are important. The goal of the council was to persuade Dr. Scherer that field trips are really important. Students voiced that they work really hard during the year and taking one day out of the year for a field trip is a lifetime memory that allows students to gain a world of knowledge. Students emphasized that allowing each grade level to take one field trip a year is a wonderful way to optimize instructional time. Students discussed ways to support students, staff.

We are excited to hear today that TCE has NINE INTERNATIONAL MEDIA FESTIVAL WINNERS! The winning projects are: 1) A Day On The Farm by Shane Horne, 2) Nicholas's Adventure by Morgan Parker, 3) Holly The Christmas Cow by Cale Crane, 4) Our Childhood by Mrs. Aspinwall's Class, 5) Our Class Pets (Judge's Favorite)by Mrs. Aspinwall's Class, 6) 2nd Grade Scientists (Judge's Favorite) by Mrs. Aspinwall's Class, 7) The Animal Tracks Mystery (Best of Festival) by Nathan Spradley, 8) The Baseball Glove by Mrs. Aspinwall's Class, and 9)The Great Math Safari (Judge's Favorite) by Dr. Lee's Class.
