Mr. Lewis Frasier

Mr. Lewis Frasier: was born on April
16, 1904 to Jacob and Katherine Frasier. He lived in Liberty County (Macintosh
Area) where his parents owned land. Mr. Frasier was the eighth of ten children
including seven sisters and two brothers.
Mr. Frasier attended school at the Dorchester Academy. He
attended church at the Thebbs AME with his mother. His dad attended the Midway
Congregational Church. He began his career in the pulpwood industry.
Mr. Frasier owned and operated Lewis Frasier Pulpwood Co., owned a
convenience store, was president of Dorchester Federal Credit Union, farmed and
raised cattle on Lewis Frasier Road, was the first black member of the Board of
Education, helped acquire land for Liberty County High School, served on the PTA
for LCHS in Midway, founded and pastored the Soloman Temple Church in Midway,
pastored the Gospel Light Church in Sylvania and was Field Supervisor for the
Church of Christ Holiness Unto the Lord. He enjoyed singing and working in the
church. He helped many young people get started in jobs, and was instrumental
in sending several students to college.
Mr. Frasier was married to Florence Frasier who still lives in Midway on
Lewis Frasier Road. They have three children: Elizabeth, Willie, and Annie.
Lewis Frasier died thanksgiving morning in 1974. He was buried in the Solomon
Temple Church Cemetery in Midway. The family described that day as the "Coldest
day they can remember, windy and cold".
