The Great Barrier Reef
A coral reef is a natural
barrier made of the bodies of living and dead coral. It is
normally just below the surface of the water. The Great
Barrier Reef is along the coast of Australia. It is made up
of coral and algae. Coral are tiny invertebrate animals. The
Great Barrier Reef is 1250 miles long. There is a channel of
water that separates the reef from the Queensland coast. It
is the largest deposit of coral in the world. It is also the
world's largest living structure. Many beautiful creatures
live in the reef. People who live in or visit Australia
enjoy diving along the reef.
