The People of Australia
Australia has two different groups of
people.
1. the native Australians, called
Aborigines,

and
2. European settlers. The European
settlers have come from all over the world to live in this
wonderful country. Many people in Australia make their
living raising sheep.
Agriculture is very important to the
Australian economy. With more than 150 million sheep,
Australia is the world's largest wool producer. The country
supplies 70% of the wool that factories in other countries
use to make clothing. Australia is also a large supplier of
meat, dairy products, cereals, fruit, vegetables and
sugar.

The Australian Sheep Dog is a popular dog
in Australia. This dog is more than a pet, it has an
important job herding the sheep.
