The cities have some famous landmarks.
Here is a view of Sydney that shows two famous landmarks. Sydney is the

the bridge and the opera house.

The nation's capitol is in Canberra. Here is a view of the parliament building at night.

This is a view of Melbourne, another big city in Australia.

The Sydney Opera House is
a very famous building. Choirs, symphonies, and bands have
played here. Some people think that the Opera House looks
like three sailing ships setting out to sea. There are
nearly 1000 rooms in the Opera House.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge
opened in 1932. Before it opened, travelers had to travel
across the harbor on ferry boats. It is wider and heavier
than any other arch bridge in the world. People call it the
Coat Hanger because of its appearance. In 1992, a tunnel was
opened under the 8-lane bridge to help with
traffic.

Parliament House is the
building where Australia's federal legislature meets. It
sits in the summit of a low hill in Canberra, the nation's
capital. The building was opened in 1988. It covers an area
of 989 square feet. From the air, it looks like two
boomerangs meeting in their centers.
