Curriculum
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction’s purpose is to serve our internal public
(students and schools’ staffs) and external public (community) in all facets of implementing
our curriculum. Now is an exciting time for public education in the state of Georgia as we
implement the Georgia Performance Standards. The new state curriculum sets high standards
for our children. Performance standards are more rigorous than the content standards used
in the previous curriculum. Performance standards provide clear expectations for performance
and/or products-based student work. The transfer of skills into real world problem-solving,
reasoning, communication , and making connections with other information is at the core of
standards-based education.
