Students at BGE participate in a strong academic program which includes reading, language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, health, physical education, music, art, and computer technology.   Our academic program is enhanced by the Title I program, the Early Intervention Program (EIP), Accelerated Reader, small group instruction, standards-based learning and hands-on, and active learning experiences. Data-driven instruction is emphasized at Button Gwinnett.  The total school program promotes student achievement as the necessary foundation for a productive, successful life.

Quick Facts about BGE

Button Gwinnett Elementary School was established in August of 1979.  It is located on twelve acres of land adjacent to Fort Stewart.  Approximately 500 students in grades K-5 attend Button Gwinnett.  Our school mascot is the bald eagle and our motto is “Soaring to Success!”The school colors at BGE are red, white, and blue. Our The school was named after Button Gwinnett (1732-1777), who was the 2nd governor of Georgia and one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. He lived near Hinesville later in life.
